Guides & Escorts
The Kingdom of Bhutan requires that all travelers entering on a Tourist Visa be accompanied by English speaking guide or escort certified by Department Of Tourism, Bhutan. This assures that all travelers are safe and well cared for during their stay. In addition it insures that the sights and marvels of Bhutan are respected and protected from accidental injustices that might occur. Please rest assured that our guides, while with you to all parts of your journey, give all the space and privacy you require to experience Bhutan in your "own space".

"Travel with Khetnath was great. We always had the freedom to do whatever we wanted. He was there when we needed him. When we wanted to explore on our own all we had to do was tell him when we'd meet him and where. Hikes, Markets... we had all the space and privacy we could ask for." - S.Golding 2003

*Japanese, French and German speaking guides can also be provided with prior request for an additional cost.

Health Informaion
Currently there are no vaccinations required for traveling to Bhutan. However, visitors coming from an area infected with yellow fever are required to get a yellow fever vaccination and must be administered at least ten days before arrival in the country. Likewise, visitors arriving from a cholera-infected area should get vaccinated, and anti-malarial medication is strongly recommended for travelers visiting rural areas bordering India

Insurance

We recommend that all travelers obtain a short-term traveler’s insurance policy, which covers everything from life and emergency medical care to lost baggage

Accomodation's
Visitors must be informed that Bhutan is remote and a unique country and all the facilities are not the best. There are comfortable hotels, lodges and guesthouses at tourist destinations. Western Bhutan has better hotels while in central and eastern part of the country; accommodations are more rudimentary but clean.
Experience Bhutan Travel (EBT) has carefully selected the list of accommodation units with the best of location, service and ambience.

Food

Bhutanese delicacies are rich with spicy chilies and cheese. The EBT selected list of hotels and lodges offer delicious Chinese, Continental, Bhutanese and Indian Cuisine. Even on trek, EBT trained cooks prepare dishes suitable to western taste ranging from continental to Chinese and Bhutanese to Indian.

Coimmunications
The telecommunication services available in the Kingdom include: telephones, facsimile, telex, telegraph, international phone links and 14.4 Internet e-mail cafes.

Money

Bhutan unit of currency is Ngultrum (Nu.), which is at parity with Indian rupee. Tourists are advised to carry their money in the form of Travelers cheques and cash. Visa, American Express is accepted only in few shops only if you buy goods worth of US$ 100 minimum. We recommend our clients to carry some amount in cash for personal expenses, tips and incidental expenses. The extra money as precautionary measure is always welcome. We do not entertain Visa or any credit cards to make tour payment. If you are traveling alone or with a friend (we call FITs), the tour payment is accepted directly either in cash or TC, but for group of 3 people and above, you need to wire transfer the money well in advance to enable us to process your visa.

Photography
The photographic opportunities on all trips are immense. You will also wish to record the local people, their houses and shops etc. Always ask by gesture if it is ok to do so. Don’t take your destination as living museum. Also while visiting dzongs, monasteries, temples and other religious institutions; please follow your guide’s instruction carefully. For your information, the photo shops in Bhutan do not offer quality equipment or accessories. 35mm color print film is readily available but slide films are difficult to find. It is advisable to bring along enough lithium batteries if required.
